Still at a standstill! Our dinghy is growing some sort of aquatic moss and our spirits are restless. When you live aboard something that is supposed to GOGOGO it seems entirely wrong to be hanging around the same place day after day!
However, we learn more and more about our home du moment as family comes and we do highly informative touristy things. Speaking of family, we got a visit from our beloved cupid (aka Greg), who not only introduced John and me 14 years ago, but finally got married to his own true love!
We've been getting our fair share of rain as so many of you are getting dumped with "the white stuff". In the Carolina's, a few inches caused thousands of car accidents by panicked drivers...reminding me of when I drove my car into a snow bank as Blake jumped up and down in the back seat, excited we might have to call the police...AHHHH YOUTH!
Dante and Blake continue their growth by leaps and bounds, physically and even more so mentally. Lots of firsts for Dante...merry-go-rounds, living across from pirates (they moved us across from the Black Raven), balloon dueling...and lots of happy hundreds for Blake...walking the streets in a downpour, dock racing, balloon dueling...
We are missing Maine intensely this month and all those we hold dear...

Dear Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteGreat posting and images! Dante looks in a trance on the carousal. Wonderful to see the boys growing and having fun along the way. You are, you know, supposed to be "at rest" when secured in a nice, safe harbor. So enjoy it!
It's great that Blake is able to experience a new school and new friends with a different cultural and geographic background. That will go far in giving him the depth and breadth needed to approach life in this multi-cultural world of ours. And, of course, Dante being 5 at 2 says it all.
Seriously thinking about seeing you all and leaving winter in the lurch. We always enjoy having two springs in one year and that should happen in the near future. Love to you all and courage for all the obstacles and triumphs of the boys and the continuing saga of you and John. (Don't you want to see how it will all turn out?!)

Greetings Bondellios,
ReplyDeleteI am in Chicago visiting Sue and Steve and Catherine. I have introduced them to your site and it's now bookmarked on their computer. Catherine got a big bang out of Blake's short hair and was very impressed that he is doing long division. She's just mastered her "9's" in multiplication. So here is Sue's address eatrdust@comcast.net. How does Catherine get in touch with Blake? I could not remember his blogspot address. I have been in the midwest all week visiting my family. My mother is in a nursing home now and I spent quite a bit of time with her in Indiana before heading to the Windy City. Tomorrow we celebrate Sue's 50th birthday. One of her friends asked how old I was I told her I was 65 and she said "my goodness, that's a lot of years between the two of you". We both laughed and said, there are seven kids between us and two after Sue! They were a little surprised. Catherine is busy with school and Brownies and Sunday School. I didn't realize that Blake was back in a regular school but that makes sense since you will be in St. Augustine for awhile. I am inspired to come and visit you sometime before you take off for the high seas again. What kind of restaurant is John working in? I'm sure he's a great addition to their cuisine!
Take care of yourselves. Glad the Harry Potter books are enjoyed by all. Bless you... we miss you soooooo much!
Love,
Mary
Ship's ahoy! Hi Rebecca, this is Suzie, one of the famous Sue's that visited Mary this August. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. You are an amazing writer! I have written this post 3 times now, but it doesn't seem to be taking...so here's hoping this post is a charm.
ReplyDeleteI forgot you can't post back so to speak...my email is susanshields@comcast.net if you ever feel like some grown up girl talk...lol
